For higher incomes, it will be essential to explore non-ACA alternatives to cut costs and still keep excellent healthcare. (more) Assuming people are fairly healthy, there is a new health-sharing option that includes a much larger network of doctors through the FirstHealth PPO network. Altrua is a leading health-sharing plan that gives access to the two largest PPO networks in the nation - PHCS Multiplan PPO and FirstHealth PPO. Those using this plan are exempt from the 2.5% tax penalty - and benefits can be tailored to one's particular needs and budget. Unlike the more expensive plans, it does take into account pre-existing conditions - so I would recommend this only to people who are relatively healthy, without any chronic illness conditions. For example, this plan excludes people who've had cancer, who use tobacco, or who are currently pregnant. The health benefits from Altrua come in modules so you can adjust benefits to match your needs. The first module allows for unlimited doctor visits, free preventative care, etc. The USA Well Premium plan is a fully insured plan and does cover pre-existing conditions starting day one. Obviously, this is where the vast majority of your everyday medical needs will be met. The cost for this Well Premium plan for TWO persons is $290/month. This provides "day one" coverage with no deductible: unlimited primary care visits with a $35 copay, specialist or urgent care visits with a $75 copay, X-rays at $50, MRIs at $500, etc. I'm attaching provider directories for FirstHealth PPO. This module doesn't cover hospitalization and surgery, however, which is where the second module comes in. The second module called Select Silver 2750 covers catastrophic costs with only a $2750 deductible for hospital and surgical costs -- which is much less than a standard plan's $7,800 out of pocket risk. It is important to understand there are some limitations with this plan when compared to major medical coverage. For example, this health-sharing plan provides up to a $1,000,000 benefit, whereas the standard ACA plans are unlimited. There are also some limitations and waiting periods for pre-existing conditions, so I encourage you to look at the pdf below at your convenience. Based on what you've told me, I don’t think this will be an issue for you. The Select Silver plan will cover the cost of any catastrophic needs that relate to hospitalization and surgery at a much more affordable cost. For two persons in their early 60s, this second module only costs $485/month - and it covers up to $1,000,000 each. This functions under Multiplan PPO which includes Los Robles, Cedar-Sinai, UCLA Hospitals. [A third module called Lifetime Plus raises your coverage from $1,000,000 to $3,000,000 for $90/month more. Many people experience greater peace of mind having this higher amount (though it is optional). It functions like an "umbrella policy" to increase coverage from $1M to $3M.] The the two module package will be $780 per month - giving you Silver level PPO benefits at much less than the cost of a Bronze plan - and saving you several thousands a year in premiums compared to a BS PPO plan. I know that for some, to make a move from your current "fully insured" plan to a "health-sharing plan" may seem unsettling at first, so it's important to read the fine print to understand what is NOT covered so there are no surprises. It's also crucial to find out which of your doctors are contracted with the FirstHealth PPO network. People were upset and weren't able to navigate the new rules. So by answering their questions clearly, honestly and patiently -- I instantly became a hero. My business boomed in only a few short years. My advice: persevere boldly through all the rejection you'll receive. But to reduce the negativity, don't be a salesman; be an educator. Help people solve the problem they are trying to solved and make it simple and affordable. Then you'll succeed!

In my industry, there are no discounts. Insurance companies set pricing. The difference in brokers is how fast, clear and effective is your customer service. Price is king only in the absence of value. How important (value) do you place on trustworthy and fast customer service? Is that worth a few cents more?
