About Us

Headway Mental Health offers in person, as well as online therapy services to those who are in need of talking through their current life situations/transitions. What makes us special is our clients. My main motivation is seeing you succeed. Through the process of building strong therapeutic alliances our staff can assist in guiding one to replace negative with positive life patterns. These patterns affect how we think, feel, and behave and can also directly impact how successful we are in our daily lives. We use a strength-based holistic approach which focuses on building mastery and resilience.

How We Got Started

On November 11th, 2004, I had an epileptic seizure, fell 7-feet, broke my neck and became a quadriplegic. Throughout my rehabilitation mental health services were scarce leaving me to depend upon my own resources to get me through the toughest period in my life. I figured that if I had the ability to get myself through this trauma then I have a gift that could help others get through their traumas and transitions as well. I have a lot of gratitude for the amazing support system I had in helping me get through this tough situation and hoped that I could help others as well. Because of this helping others became my life's burning desire. So I embarked on a 14-year academic endeavour that would provide me with the theoretical knowledge. Now I am constantly updating my skills and am currently taking Thinking into Results with the Proctor Gallagher Institute. Now the work that we do with our clients has become my primary focus in life.

I find if you give to the communities (free time, lunch and learns, conferences etc.) usually the work comes back. Then referrals start. Social media also works very well and if you have some budget to boost your ads this works in your favour when trying to generate leads. It is important to source the proper referral for clients, but with that being said I refer clients to others in my network as I love helping others in supporting the growth of their business, as I appreciate referrals to help grow my business. I think it's also important to let the client know that you don't take on all clients, be specific in who you are looking to treat and who you can. Being transparent create's an immediate sense of trust. That’s a difficult question to answer. Because my clients present with a caring number difficulties I feel like for some of it may be crossing boundaries, so I like to stay the same with everybody so I choose not to send birthday cards or Christmas cards and just use words instead! I realize that I know to situations are the same, but this creates an immediate strong therapeutic alliance and sense of trust.  Clients have told me that they usually feel that if my therapist can overcome difficulties then maybe I can too.  It sets an atmosphere Where Hope and possibilities are present  and Often motivation is present.  This foster is the perfect therapeutic atmosphere for the development of mastery and resilience! How awesome! This is exactly why I have chosen to serve, help, and heal humanity.
