About Us

Bolton's Voice is a professional voice acting company based in Traverse City, Michigan. Owner Diane Bolton is a full-time professional voiceover/voice actor, and has been doing voiceovers from her broadcast-quality, professionally-equipped studio for many years, with a variety of commercial, e-learning, telephony/IVR, narration, etc. clients. Her background across industries has helped her acquire and retain clients across those industries, as well as her ability to develop professional voiceover relationships with many others. Besides completing her work well, her hallmarks include her on-time completion, her willingness to be flexible, and her ability to develop lasting business relationships with her clients.

How We Got Started

I have an education background, have been a professional speaker for many years, and have traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada, speaking and conducting live workshops and seminars. Several years ago, I had an opportunity to add voice acting to my portfolio of professional and diverse work experiences, continuing to use my voice as my instrument. Voiceover has become my full-time occupation and I love it. I still use my microphone on stage and in workshop settings before audiences, but my primary focus is in my professionally-equipped booth for my voiceover work, where I am heard, but not seen.

First, it gets us all out of the house--something we should all appreciate, what with so many things to keep us inside. Second, we have the opportunity to see, touch, and try on the products we are interested in purchasing vs ordering online and taking our chances, or, worse, having to drive to the post office to return the items we purchased online that didn't fit or that didn't meet our expectations. So, sometimes that online shopping option isn't always as convenient as we think. Third, it's nice to get dressed! Online shopping gives us the chance to stay in our pajamas and fluffy slippers; in-store shopping means we must get dressed. I'm good with that. Fourth, if there's an issue with a product, as Lucien mentioned, we can more easily get it looked at, fixed, warranted, or returned. Online? Not so much. Fifth, human interaction is, and always will be, vital to our growth as a community and as society. When we shop locally, we can't hide anonymously online, expressing any and all thoughts, however unsubstantiated, cruel, or off the rails they may be. Face-too-face shopping helps local businesses stay in business, continuing to serve real people with their purchasing needs. I shop locally almost 100%, with my focus particularly on smaller, one-of-a-kind businesses vs big box stores or franchises. Even my work as a voice actor focuses as much as possible on doing commercial voiceovers that focus on local products, services, and businesses. What have we got to lose by shopping locally? I can't think of a thing, other than we actually have to get up, get dressed, go outside, and interact with others. And I challenge anyone to argue with that.
