Be honest with people and don't argue with them on price, just show them what they get for your price and what they get for less. And be calm and polite! I've seen too many small retailers snap at their customers and get nasty with them over price. If you're angry, why would they want to deal with you at all and besides, you can be sure your nastiness will be spread all over town. I try to work with people to do the best I can to offer them something they will be happy with for a price they can live with. I don't start there. I start with the best. But I don't get offended when they are taken aback by the price. I get it. If you're calm, they will likely remain calm and also get that you are giving them your best price. If you try to compete on price, you may go out of business.
