By providing opportunities for local residents and businesses to provide content and information in a friendly and professional format, we make connections. How We Got Started

I saw a need for the Valparaiso neighbors to get to know each other and get to know the businesses and not-for-profit organizations here in the area. As a long time resident, I still felt like I knew so little. Now I know so many more wonderful people and organization. I love to share a little every month.

My problem now is a strange one.  The small contracting and home repair business are so busy they can't keep up and their potential employees   are happy with the 600 checks to stay home and not work.  So no one wants to advertise - they can't use the extra work!  Weird position to be in.  (more) My problem now is a strange one.  The small contracting and home repair business are so busy they can't keep up and their potential employees   are happy with the 600 checks to stay home and not work.  So no one wants to advertise - they can't use the extra work!  Weird position to be in.

As with many others, I find being involved in Chamber, Rotary and other groups are great ways to find leaded.  I am also a close listener. When someone mentions another business, Their service company, their landlord, their wife.. I try to steer the conversation that way and learn more.. then get... That has to depend on distribution numbers.  Are you talking a few thousand or a hundred thousand?  Are they being mailed or dropped off at businesses?   I don't think this is enough information to figure it out. My target is business owners, so age is not a factor.  Those who advertise with me are looking for affluent homeowners.  And that covers many ages. No, we don't do a blog, but we allow our advertisers to become "expert contributors" in our magazines. They have been known to put blog articles in as their contribution.   My understanding is the blogging regularly can help a company move up in the search engines. - We know expert articles help... Magazines!  Since my products are ads in local homeowner magazines, my product is my greatest marketing tool.  The beautiful magazines arrive every month at the homes of the most affluent families (often Business owners and decision makers) and the family reads and share them. Then they call me... (more) Magazines!  Since my products are ads in local homeowner magazines, my product is my greatest marketing tool.  The beautiful magazines arrive every month at the homes of the most affluent families (often Business owners and decision makers) and the family reads and share them. Then they call me and ask about advertising. How easy is that?    Seriously though, my second greatest way to promote my business is getting involved. I am active in my local chamber of commerce, Rotary, go to ROI events, women events and most recently was invited to a Continuation of Care group which meets monthly to share information about how their different organizations can help care for those in need!  Great meeting - and have 4 business meetings set up from that one 2 hour free breakfast.

To be honest, I don't think I have ever attended an event that didn't benefit me. I always meet interesting people - and some may turn into clients, but mostly I just love getting to know what makes people tick.
