Is it polite to hang up the phone on others when they call you, in regards to people trying to sell, or should you just say you are not interested?

They are people so no, you shouldn’t ever hang up on anyone in my opinion I always just say I’m not interested, and when they persist t I just tell them again, sorry I don’t want to waste your time I’m really not interested goodbye. Their job sucks enough already without having people be rude and hang up on them.
