About Us

OUR MISSION

The mission of Operation: Key West is to help and support military families who have a child that is battling cancer, in recovery from cancer or sadly who have lost a child to cancer.

How We Got Started

10 years ago, after a successful business career, I decided to reciprocate for my good fortune by starting Help Soldiers Inc. [Helpsoldiers.org.]. Since inception, we have generated over $550,000 enabling us to sponsor Christmas dinners, parties, and now vacations for our deserving military families. This was made possible through our free, anonymous discount prescription cards which has saved folks over $34,000,000 over the past 10 years! In closing, we are not a charity and have never accepted donations; but feel honored to have been given the opportunity help improve the quality of life for our deserving military and their families.

In closing, I have started 5 companies from "scratch" that were successful including one that went from a market cap of $400,000 to $120,000,000 in 4 1/2 years! I would love to run some ideas by you. My best buddy and his wife just had their first child Joey, who was 4 months old when he was diagnosed with "water on the brain" and immediately taken to St. Christopher's Hospital in Philadelphia for treatment. During his stay there, I visited little Joey regularly during some very tenuous times for everyone.    Little Joey shared his hospital room with another child who was 6 years old but was kept in a crib due to some serious health issues from birth. His parents lived an hour away but came every day after work to spend evenings and weekends with their sick boy. I was constantly amazed at how happy they were whenever I saw them interacting with their son since they had told me early on, that this hospital stay would be his last.         One day I met them in the cafeteria at the hospital and "flat out" asked them how they were able to be so up-beat considering what they were facing in the very near future. Their answer has stayed with me the rest of my life. They simply told me that every day they arrive at the hospital and their boy is still with them they celebrate since, to them, that day is Thanksgiving Day. That response is the ultimate "half-full" outlook on life and I felt worth repeating to the people in my life.

It has caused me to revisit people, places, and events that I probably would have never thought of again.

The choice is simple--mask or ventilator. If everyone in America were required to spend 5 minutes with a person on a ventilator--there would be ZERO mask "debate"!
