Many people confuse "expensive" with "lack of value." Expensive is relative; what is expensive to one person is a bargain to others. What you'd be paying a "web company" for is their expertise in helping
businesses such as yours. Whether you can afford it or not is a better question. If you absolutely cannot afford to hire the people who provide the service you need, the alternative is to learn to do it yourself. There are numerous online platforms, as well as in person learning through adult ed classes, community colleges, etc. The best question to ask is, can you afford to be without this service while you take the time to learn how to do it yourself? Also, are you better off running the business you're the expert at, or learning a whole new field? That being said, you don't need to hire the biggest or slickest agency who'll charge you the most money in order to get the help you need. Many smaller companies will do as-good or better work for you, with more personal service, too.
Buffer has a free version, which is great if you're doing your own in-house posts. Hoot-suite also used to, but I'm not sure if they still do. The free Buffer is limited, but you can connect basically "one of each" profile for many (but not all) popular social media platforms.

It wouldn't be enough if you were doing social media management for multiple clients, but for one company it's quite useful.
There is a limit to the total number of posts you can schedule, but you can mix & match posts as you choose.
You can also schedule Facebook posts directly within Facebook, which frees up space in the Buffer queue.

We already have "worldwide recognition" as part of our brand, so that would not be an incentive. However, like everyone else here, we could theoretically be interested if the game led to additional local sales. The specifics of your game would determine if that would be likely for our area.
Additionally, while there may be no *monetary* cost (at first), what would be required of each business to participate? Would you require details that we/they may not be willing to give out? If so, then it's a non-starter.
It seems you're going to need to "pitch" in order to get the feedback you're interested in.

Thumbtack.com may help for finding new clients. They list gigs for many, many professions, including graphics. There are other similar sites out there as well. Etsy may also be an option. You can design downloadable items only so there isn't any investment other than time. Good luck!

Getting the general populace to realize that even when something is done on a computer, it still takes varying amounts of time & still counts as "work." While it's a helpful starting point, coming to us with an idea doesn't mean a project is "print ready."

You can go the do-it-yourself route, but if you're new to this you may be better off hiring a specialist. One thing to keep in mind is that no matter which path you choose, SEO optimization takes a good 3-6 months to gain traction. It will be on the faster end if you decide to add paid ads, but...
