From as early as I can remember, I've been an avid rock hound - collecting any unusual stone that called out to me; or eagerly awaiting the return of my Uncle (a geologist) from one of his digs, so I could pick his brain about all the pieces he'd collected (and always keeping a few special ones for myself!).
Importantly, I always needed to know exactly what each piece was, and how they could be distinguished - fascinated by the differences and similarities each stone possesses; and the connections they have in our lives.
Growing up, my passion for geology (and nature, in general) never diminished, and it became very clear to me that this was a passion I needed to pursue.
