About Us

I am certified in The TRAGER® Approach, Pilates, GYROTONIC® Method and completed a 4 year teacher training in The Alexander Technique - all modalities in the Somatic/Movement Re-Education field. I came to this work as a professional dancer; I have been studying movement since 1976.

How We Got Started

Ruth Alpert is a seasoned professional in movement re-education and body alignment, helping people to release old, tension-producing physical patterns and return to the ease of being and inherent natural harmony that is our birthright.

She brings to her work extensive training in alternative movement theories in addition to her many years’ experience as a professional dancer. Ruth’s interest in bodywork and movement grew out of her desire to find a solution to the chronic pain and injury she sustained as a dancer. Since 1976 she has been studying and teaching various movement re-education techniques.

I have no employees, and am satisfied with what I have for myself.  I don't use western medicine much so it's all out-of-pocket anyway. (more) I have no employees, and am satisfied with what I have for myself.  I don't use western medicine much so it's all out-of-pocket anyway.

My work is quite personal and intimate (The TRAGER® Approach bodywork, Pilates, GYROTONIC® Exercise System, The Alexander Technique) and therefore my best referrals come from word of mouth, clients referring their friends/family.  My other referral source is the Pilates/GYROTONIC® studio owner... No, I will not be offering junk candy to my clients as I am in the business of helping them establish healthy relationships to their bodies, through pilates, GYROTONIC® Exercise System, and The TRAGER® Approach (movement based bodywork). Literal length:  driving from Santa Barbara to Santa Monica for a client, because I am the only certified practitioner of The TRAGER® Approach between Laguna Hills and the Bay Area. Given that my work is so personal, and depends on my connection to the person, word of mouth has always been the most successful way for me to get new clients.
