When I came to this country from England some years ago, I did so with the intention of setting up a Fine Arts and Antiques business. I found a commercially zoned Victorian house on the Boston Post Road and set up shop. In my first load of inventory that I had shipped over from the old country was a lovely mahogany "Four poster" bed complete with carved posts and a canopy. Although I hadn't been in the country for very long I was aware of some of our language distinctions and differences. What we call a car boot, you call a trunk; and what we call a "lorry" you call a truck etc. However it turns out I wasn't quite as adept at understanding the subtle differences as I thought. I wrote a very full description of the four poster bed, describing all its fine points and included the price. Thinking that such an unusual piece, with its bolts and dovetailed slots, might pose a challenge to the average American to put together, I added under the price in bold letters. "ERECTION INCLUDED" It took a lot longer to sell than I'd anticipated.
