You might find that using 3 different marketing platforms for the 3 targets works best. Remember in marketing it's not just one solution it's the collective approach of a marketing plan that will return the best results. Bigger is always better with ads but this needs to be taken in the context of the budget. Marketing is an investment in your business, without marketing staying in business is very challenging. Micro-targeting the clients where you normally find them is the smartest approach. For example, do you work with people who have had criminal charges against them, are defense attorneys a good referral source? Or does the court system have programs or work with individuals like yourself. Call and ask a few.

Smiles are absent even if you are out in public due to the all-important mask we all must wear. Facial expressions are a silent communicator and are absent now as well.  I do find people having more patience with phone conversations as the phone's importance has increased as a life-line to the world. We have added new presentation tools to assist phone conversations which do improve the quality of the phone meeting.

Although it is not a competition, many business owners are approaching it as a challenge/competition in order to remain viable. For example, you may have a restaurant serve special dinners but now, in order to pay the bills and remain open, you have changed your focus to meal prep and delivery vs. fine dining. It's so important to take inventory of your facility and it's capabilities, beyond their original intention, and adapt them to serve a current need in the community. It's a fight, so jump in with both feet and get creative, you may have to put your ego aside for a bit but in the end you will learn more about turning a buck so to speak!

While face to face meetings are the most desired, our remote approach is strong and keeps us in front of potential sponsors. Life and the new normal!  Businesses that are serious about staying in business are jumping through hoops and becoming increasingly creative in their approach to jobs. It's not all bad, in fact, a lot of very creative solutions will benefit businesses moving forward.

Aim for effective but know going in that R.O.I. is a pipedream any more so don't get hung up on data. Anyone telling you they will give you accurate R.O.I. data I would steer clear of. Our market is too loaded with messages and customers just do not pay attention to 'knowing' how they heard of you. They may see a truck logo, go home and Google it, then say, "oh yeah, I Googled you!" Not so. So, step one-really think who your customers are and where they live. Step two-believe in branding-building name recognition is key to building everything else. Step three-be prepared to be in it for a min. of one year. Customers really wake up around month 6 and begin to recognize your look and brand. Most customers shop locally within a 10-mile radius of their home. Don't fall for glitzy billboards, if you count how many ads you see, IF you are stopped at a light near them, it's generally 2 ads so yours may not rotate through as often as needed during the 5 o'clock rush.

Don't get hung up on ROI-the data is inherently flawed because customers really don't pay attention to where they heard about your business. Businesses would love it if they did but they don't because there are so many sources. A good strategy is one that works and will cover several different media platforms.

Businesses that focus on figuring out how to continue to work and that continue to market their services will stay ahead of the curve and perform better than those that wait for a change or let fear dictate their actions. Keep getting your message out to the market place even if it is a new and slightly different message to share. It is important to the long term health of your business.
