Youth Achieving Moral Maturity (YAMM)
At YAMM (Youth Achieving Moral Maturity), we help youth and families in low-income communities break cycles of poverty through hands-on programs in education, life skills, career readiness, and mental wellness. We build real pathways to self-sufficiency.
We serve youth and teens ages 8–17, their parents, and the neighborhoods they live in. Our approach is simple—meet them where they are, give them tools that matter, and help them grow into strong, capable adults.
If you work with families, youth, or communities needing support, we’re the partner that makes it real. Let’s connect.
We started YAMM because we saw too many young people stuck in cycles of poverty, underachievement, and limited access. In Winston-Salem, only 33% of students are proficient in math, and less than half are reading on grade level by third grade. That’s not just a school issue—it’s a life issue.
We knew something had to change. So, we built programs that meet youth where they are—on the block, in the classroom, and at home. We created Bella Diamondz to build confidence in young women. We launched Lettered Leaders to boost reading, writing, and math using Scrabble. We partnered with BRICCS to teach real trade skills like brick masonry. And we created ParentMe to support the adults raising them.
We didn’t wait for perfect funding or polished spaces. We started with what we had—a vision, a neighborhood, and the belief that our youth deserve more than survival. They deserve access, ownership, and opportunity. That’s what we deliver. Every day.
