An entry in Fred Bigham’s journal indicates that he purchased a 1916 Model “T” truck from Charles E. Rowell for $350.00. This event in 1920 marks the beginning of what was to become Bigham The Mover Ltd. Fred had been employed by people to take short trips with his car and he must have concluded that a truck would be useful for such business. A passenger service was much in demand to transport church groups, groups wanting to attend hockey and football games and family groups to Port Stanley or Port Dover on Lake Erie. The small racks were taken off the truck and a top with long stakes put on. Benches were installed along the sides complete with side curtains. The truck was ready for passenger service and entries in the journal indicate there was business to be had.
