With "The Swing Set", Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. on 90.9, WRCJ-FM in Detroit, I cover a century's worth of jazz: from its earliest offerings in the 1920s to today's artists who reflect that classic swinging feel for the future. I care deeply about Detroit-area artists and ensure that they are included in my playlists. I respond to record reps and artists who are seeking airplay. I know that a key to building community is communicating. If a recording cannot work for the program, I will give the promoter/artist an honest and kind assessment of why it doesn't fit the "Swing Set" musical sound. If the music works, I will play it and post it on the playlist, which can be accessed on www.wrcjfm.org and through links on my Music Marketer Facebook page. On that page, I post music reviews, previews of the "Swing Set," and Detroit PBS information of interest to jazz lovers. Most of all, it's fun. I love great, swinging acoustic music. I love to share that love with others. I enjoy giving back to the community. I love to make a difference for the arts and culture of our community.
