About Us
The Eagle Composite Squadron is a locally chartered part of the Civil Air Patrol, a 501 (c) not for profit organization, founded on 1 Dec 1941, and the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Our main functions include disaster relief, teaching the community about aviation and aerospace, and to develop leaders through our cadet program, and professional development of our adult members.
How We Got Started
Our squadron was chartered on 13 Jun 2012 by local community members interested in promoting aerospace, providing a beneficial activity for local youth, and serving our community, state and nation in the time of emergency.

It's nice to see a survey about the impact on business, however, it would be nice to see how the business community is using creativity to keep operations going. Our organization is a NFP, but it has impacted how or organization keeps our volunteer members engage and growing in their professional training, while face to face meetings are suspended. Last night we had our first virtual meeting.

Word of mouth. People like to tell friends and family about great service, a great product that solved a problem, or brag about a great deal. Just look at your own experiances as a customer. It also depends on what you are marketing. I had a vending machine business for a while where I obtained my initial customers via direct mail. With direct mail your product or service needs to provide a good ROI to justify the cost, as you will only acquire 1-2 new customers per 100 pieces of mail sent out. With the vending machines I recouped 100% my mailing costs with in 7 days of placing the machine on location, and since I had six machines, and I had to mail out 600-700 post cards to prospective businesses for initial placement.

Now that I have more time here, I wanted to elaborate more on my suggestion. As people came up to the booth and I shook hands and talked to them, I was able to communicate Civil Air Patrol's three primary missions. I could tell them about our emergency services program where we assist communities in the event of disasters, or look for missing aircraft. I could tell them about our cadet program for kids 12-18, and about out aerospace education out reach where we teach the community the importance of aviation. It was shacking hands and making those connections that grew into into relationships. People will say you need social media, but we have 45 members right now, and only had a Facebook the last two years. Our group was chartered in 2012. We still have the bulk of our new members who join come from the events where we had that face to face contact, and word of mouth. Might have one or two people who say I saw your Facebook page who want to become involved. My friend George, who is a pastor was the one who turned me on to this. His church rents booth space, and they buy crafty things from Oriental Trading Post, or have donated by local retailers and offer crafts. While they sit and do the craft project he can talk to people, and find out what their needs are, evangelize, and let them know about services they offer to help out in the community
