Hi Terrified. In my younger days, I actually worked in store to store sales and was successful in it. Now, as a clinical counsellor, I would recommend a cognitive behaviouristic approach to successfully walking this road. Before you start your sales day, schedule some time (even 30 minutes would do) to sit back in a comfy chair with some of your favourite background music playing. Then, shut your eyes and spend those 30 minutes imagining your success during this day. Think of store managers being really responsive to your product, feeling that this is something that would be very beneficial to their operations, and thanking you for coming into their store. Now, your imaging session is finished and you are off to work. This was the cognitive portion of your preparation. Now, for the rest of the day, we're going to move to a behavioural activation - you are going to "pretend". Pretend what, you say? You are going to go out into the marketplace pretending you are a very successful marketer or sales person and starting "acting as if". How would you expect a very confident, successful sales person to act? That is exactly how you are going to act. All day, pretend you are that confident, successful sales person, as an experiment. Then, evaluate the results at the end of the day.
Do this every day for 30 days. At the end of the 30 days, you will be the person you were initially pretending to be.
