What great tips would you give to someone who is afraid of public speaking?

Public speaking can make anyone nervous. Though I love communicating with new people and am usually not too nervous to speak in front of a big crowd. I tend to speak extremely fast without even realizing it. One time I had a senior women stop me and tell me she couldn't understand me. "Ouch" The best thing to remember is to speak slowly so that everyone can understand your speech. Practice, Practice, Practice. It never hurts to rehearse your content in the mirror or to your toddler or even your dog. Going over your content can help prevent you having to constantly look at your paper.
