I believe we know who we are but not who we will become and that there is no better example of that than the caterpillar turning into the butterfly. This belief drives me to help families and schools navigate the special education system. I do this through 1:1 coaching as well as large group presentations.

It also has led me to author the book, Those Who "Can't..." Teach, having a Livestream/podcast called #nolimits upon which I interview people who society has placed limits upon but who have busted through those limits.

I am a 30+ year special educator teaching children eligible under all the categories of IDEA. Since becoming a Master IEP Coach® I have gained even more knowledge about the possibilities that can reached while writing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

When we work together, you will find that I am passionate, knowledgeable, an outside-the-box thinker and always focused on making the world better for all one person/IEP at a time. I believe and live the lines from Whitney Houston's song, "Children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside."

Every person can and does learn in their unique way and I strive to find that way for each individual.

Since I was 9 years old I knew I was going to be a teacher. I was a special educator for 30 years and then the Lord took me out of teaching...in the traditional classroom.

In 2018, He led me to write a book, Those Who "Can't..." Teach True Stories of Special Needs Families to Promote Acceptance, Inclusion, and Empathy, which was published in 2020. He also led me to start Shelley Kenow IEP Consultant to help the families who have a child eligible for special education navigate the system.

I saw how overwhelmed the parents of my students would get at the Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and how daunting the IEP was to them. When I worked for school districts, I couldn't help the families without the threat of losing my job. Once I left teaching, the Lord reminded me of this need and had me start this business.

It is such a joy to come away from a meeting and have parents tell me they finally feel listened to and respected.
