About Us

I have over 40 years of experience in the steel industry in this market. I have worked in steel distribution, steel fabrication and steel construction.

Approximately four years ago, I started Suncreek Trading LLC. and would like the opportunity to earn your business. My goal is to build long term mutually beneficial relationships with my clients & vendors based on honesty and integrity.

I have partners that I work with to bring the skills needed to complete your projects. Due to my tenure & long term relationships within the steel industry, I have deep resources for structural steel shapes, metal building components, fabrication, logistics and steel erection. My partners and I have a unique agreement that allows us to work together on projects and keep our overhead low.

How We Got Started

In 2013, I intended to take a break from the Steel industry and accepted a job closer to home. Shortly thereafter, my loyal customer base began to call me and ask if I would supply material and / or do some consulting on their projects. One thing lead to another and Suncreek Trading was formed.

During this short break, it was affirmed to me that working with my Customers and in the Steel Industry is my passion and my calling.

(more) I tend to stay away from Residential projects because of several factors.  Please understand these are general statements and not intended to be a one size fits all answer. For me, it takes a certain amount of time to estimate, project manage and mobilize regardless of if the project is residential or a commercial / industrial.  The Commercial / Industrial work tends to be larger scale and thus a better opportunity for my company.   As someone else said, Commercial is a different animal all together when compared to Residential.   The scope of a Commercial project is typically much more detailed with drawings, specifications, project schedule, interaction with a General Contractor / Owner(s) and require more Insurance etc. There are pros and cons to each Category of work.  Typically, you would need to be better funded to do Commercial / Industrial work.   You may work all month, submit a draw/ pay application on the 25th of the month and wait 30 days for the Contractor / Owner to fund the project. Often,  you need to pay suppliers and labor before you get paid.   Suppliers and Labor don't like to hear that you have not been paid yet & therefore you cannot pay them.   Regardless of your choice to work on Commercial or Residential, doing several things well can separate you from the Competition.   Be responsive, treat others with dignity & respect, do what you say you will do, own your mistakes, fix your mistakes, be solutions oriented and last but not least provide Value & Quality goods and services.

Also, it is recommended that you know your customer.  Is he / she okay with a window OR do they need you to be there at a specific time?   Meeting Customer expectations is key!

The better the copped joint fits the better the weld.  IF the gap is huge perhaps more time should be spend on the fitting part of the project.  That said, it is common for an experienced welder to use a filler rod (1/4" dia. or so) to offset gaps. I hope this information is helpful.  Here is a link to Welding 4130 I found with a google search.  http://www.harrisproductsgroup...

My challenge with recommending other people is that I have to know them and have confidence in their ability to follow up & follow through.  I feel  like how the referral performs is a reflection of me and when the referral fails, I take it personal. Anybody else struggle when the referral you made fails?

I would think the Pool Builders start gearing up in the Spring but really do not have any experiance to lend on this one. Steel Construction is similar, we start gearing up in Feb and run hard until November it seems.
