Whether you are optimistic, pessimistic or fatalistic, most businesses can learn something from the pandemic and lockdowns. In my business, I did a lot of traveling to see clients in person before the pandemic and have done absolutely zero since the end of February, 2020. What did I learn from that? Two things. First, that my strong relationships with my clients allowed us to keep working together during this crisis. Although we couldn't meet in person, they knew they could count on me to take care of them. Second, even with lower income over the past 18 months, eliminating my travel cost increased my bottom line. There are two ways to make more money - increase revenue or decrease costs. I was surprised that my business survived (and even thrived somewhat) because of lower costs. Think about what worked and what didn't for your business and find a way to use that moving forward.
