These are all great and true comments! To attract someone you may have not seen recently or new- I think a handwritten and personal one is best. That’s the highest roi. The “postcard” may get put with all the other ones...recycled.

I am actually dealing with this question right now, it's tricky for a small business owner knowing the right time to have enough to fill the "hopper" but not taking too much focus off standards and quality.
Although our industry is relatively recession-proof, successful entrepreneurs know that marketing now and growing a cleaning business is critical to its survival.
If you need an injection of fresh ideas, here are a few I am working on to grow my cleaning business, and recommended by some people I look too!
As you think about growing your business, step back and think about what your dream business looks like and feels like and what's involved in getting to that point-the vision.
Be DifferentIn a crowded market, differentiating yourself is essential. Clients want to know what it is you can do for them that other cleaning places can't. Start by assessing what is unique to you – Use Facebook, Instagram, online reviews, and word of mouth to listen. Another way to differentiate yourself is to build more intimate relationships through your marketing. Start a page, blog, or send out newsletters offering cleaning tips, and a referral bonus (you want to show yourself as an expert in your field) through discovery and engagement (where they try to learn more about you and take action that may or may not lead to a sale), and all the way to referral status (when they are so happy with you, they want to tell everyone about you).
Of course, there are other steps in between, but the point is that you should have a vision that focuses on clients in each step of the buying cycle. While some of phase you might offer a coupon as an incentive for them to hire you for an additional service, or at Christmas I did one called "Buy one, Gift one" where clients bought a special service, then got to give one for free or donate!
