If you're a "one man show" starting up your own business, such as myself, you will not be able to delegate tasks you feel put you in the weeds until experienced first hand.
When a business is yours every aspect of it always needs your attention. You are starting a business based off of what your passion is. Your business is a reflection of you. You create the culture for the future people you bring in to support your business, should it grow.
The weeds should be treated as a learning experience when starting a business. The weeds are going to be delegated to someone else should your business prove to be successful enough to hire another come in.
You will be the one setting the example of how a situation causing extra work should be handled.
If you yourself are not involved in the weeds from the start you may not find that one area needed to be concentrated on that will set you apart from the rest and where to invest.
Research is not enough, connections are not enough, word of mouth or support is not enough...unless you yourself are providing a service/product based upon the experience you have in being involved.
You can't find the right pesticide if you're not involved in the weeds.
