The mission of Rumriver Art Center (RRAC) is to be catalyst for artistic literacy and excellence through our collaborations and partnerships in areas void of artistic opportunities. Our goal is to recognize the individual potential of students and explore through multiple art mediums their talents, passions, and spirit while igniting prospects for innovative and affordable artistic expression. The RRAC was founded in 2009 by husband and wife team, Larry Weinberg and Susan Yee, becoming a 501(C)(3) non-profit in 2012. We recognized the absence of affordable artistic outlets in the northwest suburbs. The art program began with a simple drawing class, but demand required the addition of different art visual arts classes. RRAC now offers painting, watercolor, printing, pottery, sculpture, mixed media, cartooning and more. We provide thousands of students of all ages, ethnicities and economic backgrounds the opportunity to grow artistically and creatively while building confidence and social skills. The art center offers art courses and workshops to homeschooled families, after-school programming for public and private educational institutions, persons with disabilities and adult art students year-round. We have a teen art club in the summer and our newest endeavor a weekly Plein Air club (outdoor painting). RRAC serves the Northwest suburbs of Anoka County. The geographic area includes but is not limited to Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Champlin, Coon Rapids, Elk River, Fridley, Ham Lake, Oak Grove Ramsey, and Saint Francis.
