If a competitor's product (or service) is a better match, then refer them to competitor. It may be painful short term, but customers will remember your honesty and call you again and again.
(3) All sales must result in Win-Win (for both supplier & customer). Any other way will mean end of a relationship. Creating a new relationship can take hours (sometimes weeks & months), but end of a relationship only takes a few seconds or minutes and it is nearly impossible to mend a broken relationship.
