I belong to several other Networking groups and we have many volunteer opportunities to give back to our Community which is fun, gives personal satisfactions, helps those in need, and helps get the company name recognition. I also contribute to newspaper articles and am quoted often on various subjects related to Interior Design. Hiring an interior designer is not a luxury but a necessity to help all people function better in their places of work, leisure, worship, healthcare settings, and homes. Interior Design is the act of creative problem solving and provides organization, good traffic flow, comfort, quality, safety, and yes aesthetics to your space. As your Interior Designer I work within your budget and can help maximize even a modest one.  It's my role to translate your vision into reality by using creative problem solving, project management, and negotiation skills to deliver your project on time, in budget, and more polished than you might have done on your own.  Tamburro Interiors, LLC is a full service Interior Design firm specializing in hospitality,  food & beverage, retail, and residential interiors. Because traffic is so challenging in the DC Metro area both the 10am and 7pm time slots seem best to me to give participants a fighting chance to get to an event. However, depending on the demographic of the networking group you may want to tailor the timing to either during work hours if appropriate or after work hours for that group to best suit them. You may also need to take into consideration if most participants have young children, the timing may have to be scheduled around parent/ children schedules.

Tamburro Interiors, LLC offers full service interior design with expertise in the design of branded concepts for hospitality, restaurant/ food & beverage and retail spaces, residential  interiors, all with a focus on practical livability and sustainability. For over 20 years I've been designing branded concepts for food & beverage and retail concepts inside of airports, universities, colleges, healthcare settings, corporate settings, and travel plazas throughout the United States and Canada for international, national, regional, and local brands.  My expertise includes designing/ creating new branded concepts, working with existing brands in new locations to make sure the trade dress is properly represented while honoring the design standards of the Landlord or building management company.  Most of the commercial/ hospitality work I've done has 90 day construction schedules that require a spec package with all items In Stock, readily available, as well as in budget, and appropriate for the application for which they are intended by meeting applicable codes.  For residential work I tailor the design to fit the Client and no two designs are ever the same. My portfolio shows a wide variety of styles since the final design is an enhanced version of the Client's taste.  My ideal Client are people who are: facility directors, real estate brokers or developers, property management companies, multi-family building owners, resorts, colleges & Universities,  brands, restaurant/ bar owners, hotel management companies or owners, retailers, and residential homeowners.

My advice is to take that knowledge with you to your next employer or start a business of your own and turn this bad experience into a positive learning one. Since you experienced a family owned business,  maybe try a corporate business for your next job. Wherever you work next try to find out as much as possible about the culture within the company before agreeing to work with them.  If you start your own firm, this experience provided a gold mine of exactly what not to do when structuring a new company or department.  It sounds like you are a dedicated and effective worker and your next employer and your clients will be lucky to have you.  Best Wishes to you for a successful future! It's completely understandable that your daughter wants you to trust her and her frustration with questioning her decisions.  For you, Dad my questions are, what are your questions about? Are you second guessing your daughter's decisions or just trying to understand what's going on? You've been in business a long time by trusting your instincts so honoring that should come into play, too.  While your daughter might not want to be questioned, if there is an issue that's bothering you, you must he able to communicate with each other.  I definitely agree that praising strengths will help. Explaining your thought process and perspective may as well.  One other suggestion is to take CEUs together. Ones on technology for business and for management that will increase your knowledge and strengthen your family bond, too. Win/win.....

The public space and the back-of-house office spaces should be consistent in branding, as well as overall function and design. The lobby and other public space areas are not only what a client sees, but also prospective employees, delivery people, and others who may be invited into your space. Impressions matter and word may get around that a space is pleasant or unpleasant. The public areas should reflect the office brand and its philosophy. The office space should be well designed for the employees who work there including office space that supports the functions of all departments, incorporates natural light, fresh air if windows are allowed to be operable, allows individuals to control lighting and heating/ cooling levels, and is aesthetically pleasing. These and the decor should also reflect the values and philosophy of the brand. A design that fosters productivity and employee satisfaction will be more prosperous than not and have better employee retention. Happy employees will happily serve clients and strive to make their experiences with the team pleasant. It starts at the front door and should be consistent throughout the space.

Since you have successfully made it this far, I can only think that you will successfully navigate this next chapter with the same dedication you gave your business, now give to yourself.  Definitely your health must be the first priority. Hiring a manager and staff (whether paid or interns) to manage the work with your administrative oversight seems like the best way forward. The business can continue to flourish as can you. Best Wishes for complete and perfect health.

By building a solid foundation for your brand it only makes you that much more credible, distinguishes you as an industry leader, and as the authority for your market sector.   'Less is more" is probably a better approach to marketing rather than giving away all of your ideas in your marketing materials, Come up with a "hook" to pique interest and generate traffic, but is vague enough to not give away too many specifics.  Embedding your photo or other watermark logo in your marketing materials is also a good idea to prevent piracy. Think of Shutterstock images that have a watermark throughout their images so they can't be used in that state without revealing the source of the image. The watermark will become part of your branding and will be a recognizable feature in your marketing materials. Take a page from sports figures and their mental game for competition. When running a race, an athlete doesn't spend time looking around to see where the competition is, but focuses on the end goal. That will free up your energy to succeed far and above any copy-cats.  Best of luck to you!
