I have had a rich history of working across the Deep South in Social Work. I was an early Master's Degree Social Worker with Degrees from the University of West Georgia and the University of Southern Mississippi. I have had experience as a social worker in three states, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia, working in large, medium, and small counties. I spent seven years as a County Director at the Clay County Department of Human Resources.

I taught Sociology and Ethics and Society three years at Southern Union Community College. I later taught First-Year Writing at the University of West Georgia for four years.

I also worked in the Arts for eight years, putting on plays, musicals, Arts Camp, etc.
I studied voice and was the Music Director at my church for eleven years. I wrote and conducted a program funded by the Alabama State Arts Council for three years, "Arguing the Arts," combining writing skills with theatre. I served on the Alabama State Arts Council for one term.

My writing career began with my second Master's Degree at West Georgia. I have published poetry, nonfiction, and memoir. I have recently published a book about a local psychic, Mrs. Irene Teel. Mrs. Teel told fortunes from the early 1900s until she died in 1964. I began collecting interviews in 2007 with those who had been to her. My goal was to find out if the readings came true. I finished the book Irene Teel: Psychologist, Social Worker, Fortune Teller, Witch in October 2022.

This book is not only about Mrs. Teel but is also about the place where she lived, Clay County, Alabama, and the people who came to see her. This book is a history and a story about Mrs. Teel, who lived in rural Alabama at the foot of the Appalachian chain in the 1900s. The book deals with missing people, the importance of animals, the scarcity of essentials, poverty, loss, and possibilities and hopes for the future.
