Irene Teel: Psychologist, Social Worker, Fortune Teller, Witch
Irene Teel died in 1964. The author, Linda Rochester, began collecting interviews with those who had readings in 2007 to find out if their fortunes came true. She found quite a collection of stories that amplified the career of Irene Teel, an infamous local clairvoyant. Oddly, this trail not only led to Mrs. Teel. This book became a history of the place, the time, and the people who lived in Alabama. Though the place she lived was at the center of the book, the people who came to see her came from all over the country. She filled up her days with people for over fifty years.
The goal of this project was to find out something about Mrs. Teel's accuracy from those who had readings. Mrs. Rochester collected 200 stories about those who went to her. This book is the story of those who had readings some fifty years after the death of one of Clay County's most respected, and vividly remembered, people.
