MPPR was founded by Manny Portillo, a bilingual PR strategist who grew up in Atlanta as a first-generation immigrant — learning early that how people are perceived often matters more than who they actually are.
After years in agency PR, nonprofit communications, and civic advocacy — including work with the late Congressman John Lewis and internships at CNN — Manny saw the same gap everywhere: organizations communicating clearly but not meaningfully. Messages technically correct but culturally misread.
That gap became MPPR. Instead of another visibility-first PR firm, Manny built a practice rooted in 2nd Order SocioCultural PR — understanding how meaning is formed before a message is ever sent.
