Sandra, as a recruiter for small businesses, I focus on the same and I know how hard that is to find in your industry, but it will make all the difference! Patience is the key. If you like to read business books I recommend a little one called How To Hire The Best, by Dr Sabrina Starling. She shares effective tips on how to find quality employees. One note however, she wrote this during a different employment market than we have now and she recommends writing long job posts to help weed out the ones who are not a good fit, and although I also subscribe to this approach in principal, in this tight market it can backfire, so keep that in mind as you read her tips. Good luck!

Erin, thank you for the response. I'm going to check Dr. Starling's book out. I can't know too much about finding great people!

Erin, what I usually recommend to all my clients regarding the hiring process is: "Don't hire resumes, hire personality." Of course, knowledge is important and you as an HR manager should take into consideration the knowledge of your new candidate, but personality is more important than knowledge.
If you as a business owner and you will hire good people and teach and train them to do their job properly and maximum effective and you will build a high-performance team. Those people then stay with you and will bring your company to success and to a high level of effectiveness. And that is true and historically proved fact, that people stay with that leader who cares about others.
And no matter what industry you are working for, regardless of country, regardless of gender, regardless of time. Everything in our life rises and falls on leadership.
