I am a Teacher's Assistant at Navarro Early College High School. I think things are okay, although I do have my ideas on how things could be better, but for the most part, everything is okay. I am not a big player within the district, so I do what I am required to do, and I do it pretty well....

I am not a big player within the district, so I do what I am required to do, and I do it pretty well. (Helping students with specific learning issues cope). On the whole, I really can't access the politics of AISD, as I am not that political. Things are okay.

I think the minimum wage increase will cost us all. I believe it will be inflationary, raising prices on everything, will cost many employees their jobs, lead to more automation, hurt small businesses, as they will have to raise prices, and let go workers. I think the minimum wage increase is one of those ideas that if you think about it, sounds good, but is it really?
I read an article where the minimum wage was raised in the Seattle-Tacoma Airport. All the shops within that airport were mandated to pay their workers a higher wage. (I read the report a while ago, so I forget the actual hourly wage amount). Let's say it went from $7 to $10.00 an hour. All the shops raised prices, a few let go of workers, and business fell- I do not remember the % drop in receipts.
What I learned from this is raising the minimum wage sounds good to most people due to the fact that they see only the good in it- they get paid more, that is if they keep their job, but prices go up to, so who really wins? I am not an economist, but paying everybody more because the government mandates that we have to does not seem like a very good idea to me.
I work as a TA in the Austin Public School System. I work with kids with disabilities, such as Autism and Downs Syndrome. I have done this work before, and I just applied through the AISD Website. No gimmicks.
I also teach Public Speaking at an Indian Hindu Temple. I got that through a friend...
