How can you make a pitch to a company or a person that you know nothing about or haven’t had a personal conversation with? If  that company was not asked specifically to make a pitch I’drun away as fast as you can!

That sounds like the worst thing one could ever do to themselves: take a job, no persist in a job they hate and expect different results! Get out of that rut.  Find something where you do not have to interface with the public. Computer programming, organizational planning, engineering, design....there are hundreds of careers waiting to be filled for introverts just like you. Sales is definitely not one of them!

So rather than focusing on the negative and the reasons why someone wouldn’t hire you I would focus on your skills your strengths and all the reasons why they need you. This subtle but very necessary shift will change your approach when going to meet people, whether at meet up groups, in social situations, and job interviews etc. and when you’re applying online. So while updating your resume and doing all the necessary tactical things is important more important is your mindset. Being discouraged brings you down and once you’re in that frame of mind it’s hard for anybody to be enthusiastic. I suggest you look at your life’s skills and successes and go through all the periods and choose projects skills and outcomes that really made you happy. Make a list and then from there look Add job descriptions that include all the keywords from your own findings. If you still need some help I’d be more than happy to speak with you please feel free to reach out

If you do not have a commissioned sales team or even one great person who can take over that mantle and then another part-time/freelancer to fulfill the order you may be heading for some rough waters. Try fiver.com, freelance organizations and your Linkedin connections to get ideas, recommendations and references.  Good luck to you.

Probably has a small business you don’t even have the budget to hire the right lawyer and even if you did the question next is is it worth it the emotional hassle? That said I truly believe that if we have ideas for one thing we will have 10 ideas for the next ideas are the result of a creative mind and therefore there’s no stopping that.  When you say using your name in a twisted way that could be something for the courts again question is did you trademark your name is the name part of the logo is the logo when your name of a product or of your business or of both?  Thinking on the repercussions you may wish to change your company name depending on how far along you are in the business if it’s a product related how deep is your distribution channel etc. etc.

People mistake marketing and sales all the time so let me clarify. Marketing is the strategy that encompasses sales and non-sales. Public relations is the non-sales part of it. Public relations opens the door to customers keep Publix and the media and sales closes the door.   A great marketing program will encompass all the elements of a unified whole.

That said, one works with colleagues and clients and customers. So why did I start my business? It never ended. It transformed itself into a different model than I had in the past. I owned a talent and booking agency for punk rock musicians. That morphed into a PR and branding agency and the last business I owned was a digital publishing house specializing in travel guides.  I reverted back to how I began it all; a one-woman shop, as my priorities changed. I no longer wanted to manage a huge team (80 at its heyday), nor run a corporate entity (lean and mean is my speed) or answer to shareholders and a BoD. I started this so I could handpick and choose the clients that I resonate with to create beauty in the world and boost their vision of a better world.
