Unless there's a Will in place and You're the Executor of the Will/Estate, the court can stabling a period of time say 12 months for probate process (Court should give you letter). Usually the agent Adds that person as an Additional Insured per Court documents. The Additional Insured is able to make changes to the policy as Primary Insured would. If a claim arises, Additional Insured is able to make a claim and the payment is issued on both names. As long as there's a bank account available, the insurance company will release payment for damages. An attorney should be able to advise you further.
