"I Carolyn, long time since Logan student days. 29 years for me. I'm 75 and still working 3 1/2 days a week in my own practice. If I keep my health (which is excellent) and marbles I hope to be working in my 90s. So how are you?

half of my patients are coming in as if nothing is going on. The other half are living in fear and not coming in or cancelling appointments. My supplements for immune support and infection killing have flown off the shelves.

2019 Has been the first year since the hurricanes of 2004 and the financial crisis of 2008 that business has picked up significantly. I lost my office to the 3 hurricanes in 2004 in Florida. So did a huge number of other people and businesses. The recovery has taken many years to come back from. Many businesses went completely under, especially tiny business like mine. The fact that I'm still here is a miracle. Too numerous things to mention have also happened in the ensuing years including financial, family, and personal challenges have further impacted my business and yet I'm still here. 2019 was a positive turning point. I was able to hire an office person for the first time in 9 years of working alone. All this is not to complain but to say things are looking up and I'm still here. 2020 is even more positive.
I live alone and have no family within 1200 miles so I don't do much shopping. I go out with friends for holiday meals. At 73 I have no desire to go out and fight holiday crowds. Other than groceries, I do the bulk of my shopping online.

It depends on what your goals for yourself are. The American Heart association and American Diabetes Associations recommend 30 minutes of brisk walking 5 days per week to maintain a healthy blood pressure and Blood sugar. If you are looking to losing weight, burning fat, and in general becoming stronger and more fit HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) for 20-30 minutes 5 -6 days per week. If you are looking to develop increased muscle mass, reps of 10-15 / x3 with increasing weights and targeting specific muscle groups, and alternating upper extremities and lower extremities on different days 5 days a week. There are many different options. There are only a few.

No, I do not find it frustrating unless they fall hook, line, and sinker for everything they read. I encourage clients to use the internet for research and to discuss it with me. I am always surprised at some of the great things they bring to me..... and the crap. I hope I can help them wade through the quagmire of information that is out there. Doctor means 'teacher'. At least half my time with clients is being just that.

Alternative infers that the treatment is somehow not as good as medical or allopathic treatment. Holistic is a better term but also has come to mean somehow not as good as. I like the term integrative, which includes all forms of treatment equally. When it boils down, all terms work. As an integrative provider, I first look at natural forms of treatment. If there is no natural treatment modality, then I look to allopathic treatment. The trick is to have equal or at least extensive knowledge of many kinds of treatment. Unfortunately Medical or allopathic providers often have little or no knowledge of treatments other than what they were taught in MD or DO school which DOES include heavy doses of "We are the one and only way". Similarly, Alternative or holistic practitioners have equally selective-training. My philosophy has always been to research and learn about many ways to approach a proble and then choose the best approach. I first became an RN and worked in psychiatry. That led me to massage, touch for health, Reiki, colon therapy, energy work, iridology, crystal healing, chakra balancing, nutrition, detoxing, then to chiropractic. I learned more nutrition as a DC, then became a NMD, a clinical nutritionist, and did diplomates in neurology, nutrition, craniopathy. That led me to become a MSN-FNP so I could have prescriptive rights and access to insurances. All these paths have given me a more balanced perspective to help my patients. AND, first I look for natural.
