I have never worked with an insurance agent that proactively looks for ways to save their customers money on their bill. I've also never had an insurance agent that calls to not sell a thing, but just to check in and say hello. If you need to save money on your insurance bills, I'm almost positive that Tim Tubb and Sprout Insurance can make it happen. Highly rated. "

I had a reservation at another unnamed restaurant in town last November for a surprise engagement party. Long story short, the other restaurant fell through due to being double booked. I called Blair at Park Heights. She immediately worked with me to make it the second most special night of my life outside of my wedding in March. Excellent food, atmosphere, and amazing service. Highly recommend for your special event. "

So, strike while the iron is hot and try to transition it into a story as Chrystal Bartlett mentioned. This way your mention and the link leading back to your business sticks around longer.

If you are in the early stages or have enough free time to learn the fundamentals of SEO, by all means learn and implement all you can. It goes a long way to understanding how SEO works as well as how agencies and specialists come up with their pricing.  While the debate about SEO being necessary will be tossed around among small business owners, I would like to give you something to think about. Major Brands and Big Business who are household names invest heavily in SEO. Some of them are franchise businesses which may be in direct competition with local businesses. If they heavily invest in it, you should at least consider it if you want to grow your business, build your brand, have instant name recognition, and compete against the giants. I have attached an example photo below of one of my clients who is competing with insurance industry giants. The first section of this answer will go through some of my thoughts and results as an SEO Specialist and Strategist. The last portion will give you 5 tips to focus on to begin with if you choose to DIY SEO. As an owner of a marketing company that specializes in Local SEO, I rely on search engine optimization for more than Just getting traffic to my site or my client's sites. I use SEO for traffic, lead generation, branding (believe it or not), and most importantly search engine "control." As for apps, which was also brought up as an example of how the landscape is changing, most users delete apps within 11 uses. Social Media apps and Gaming Apps are the most used apps. Followed by a few others. Advertising on these apps and platforms can help with your efforts. Another answer brought up a long gone vestige of SEO - manipulating Google. Those days have been gone for a long time. SEO is not about manipulating Google.  SEO is about providing the most relevant result to a searcher's inquiry with the goal of becoming one of Google's "preferred search results." Becoming a "preferred search result comes from building trust as a brand in the eyes of Google. That trust can show up and be displayed in many forms.  1. You could be shown as the only knowledge panel or Google My Business Listing for a category. (Yes, this happens more than you think. Below is an example from a client. As you can see they are the only business maps listing in their category, even though there are many group health insurance companies in the state.) 2. You could be rewarded with a rich snippet in "position zero," as seen in the photo below. (Disclaimer: this is a localized search result. Results may vary by search location.) 3. Your business can achieve what I like to term "search engine control." (This would be showing up and ranking in search for multiple keywords, or taking over a search result page with multiple listings on that single page. Examples below.) This client started with C.H. Local Media in March of this year. Do you think your business would benefit form having 17 top 3 placements in search for various keywords? The photo above did not come from a search for my business. It came from a keyword search. If you take up that much space on the first page of a search result, searchers will gain trust with your business because Google places that much trust in your business.  These are just a few of the advantages of outsourcing your SEO to a qualified professional or agency.  Here are 5 tips for your SEO should you decide to do it yourself.  1. Make sure you implement mobile responsiveness. 2. Use schema on your site. 3. Make sure your headers are on point. Use only 1 - H1 header per page. Make sure your H2 - H6 headers support your H1. Think of it as an outline for a speech. 4. Make sure your Google My Business is owned, verified, and completely filled out. 5. Make sure all your citations are consistent - Same Name, Address, and Phone Number. If you choose to go with a specialist or an agency we would be honored to gain your time and consideration.  Here's to your continued success!

(more) It has been stated in various answers that many small business owners do not realize the value, nor the power, of PR. While it is a shame,  it is also a harsh reality. Many of these same business owners wonder how their competition seem omnipresent online. The secret is the PR behind the marketing. In my experience with talking to small business owners, I have run into many who believe that having a Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram presence is all they need. You can show them stats all day long how engagement is being PURPOSEFULLY driven down. You can show them stats on how organic reach is now between 3% - 7% IF you are lucky and have decently engaged following.Keep educating and sharing what you know. You will get in front of ambitious business owners who see the value of what you are providing. They are the ones who calculate ROI instead of cost. They are the ones who will be in business for a long time. They are the ones who will become long-term clients because you have shown them value,  and helped them be the authoritative go to brand and business in their community. Don't get hung up on the people who don't get it. Stay in contact. Keep sending educational content. Show them that you truly care about their business. Do business with them as well. You might win them, you might not. However, when one of their friends or associates start asking around for PR and marketing referrals, guess whose name will come up.

I would like to share some practical foundational information that many internet marketers sometimes take for granted. Every commenter has shared some solid information with you. I would like to add some insight for a couple easy wins.  These insights come from a few minutes of researching your business and seeing that you could really use some more local visibility. Please understand that these are just foundational aspects of marketing and not all encompassing. Marketing is like compounding interest. The more you do the more it builds interest in your offer with your target market. 1. Go to Google My Business to register and claim your FREE Business Listing. This will help you have a chance at showing up in the Google map pack results similar to the photo below. 2. Do the same at Bing Places for Business and Yelp. This will help you with your initial visibility.  Can anyone guarantee that you will show up in the visible portion of the map packs?  No, they cannot. If they do guarantee that, be wary. No one owns Google or the other platforms except for those companies. Algorithms change all the time and Google themselves have stated they change something about twice a day. Having said that, a legitimate Search Engine Optimization agency can help your website gain some trust and authority with the search engines so they will rank you higher and gain visibility.  Just keep in mind that no one can guarantee you a number one spot or the first page. If they do, there is something fishy going on and they could actually do more harm than help. Finally, reach out to property managers, rental agencies, landlords and investors to let them know you are there and what you can do for them. They are always looking for more visibility as well. I hope this helps. If I can be of any assistance to you please do not hesitate to contact me.

(more) I have had the pleasure of working with a few boutiques on their marketing. Are you a part of your local chamber of commerce? You could coordinate with them and have a Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. This will give your chamber and any interested local media an opportunity to promote your business locally. Have catered in sandwiches, pizza, finger foods, etc. Give away a few t-shirts, and build some goodwill in your community. I have also seen boutiques that have a runway in the center of the store and host "fashion shows" as the seasons change. Finally, there is social media which has been talked about already. Look through Instagram and find micro-influencers in your area. They don't need a million followers contrary to popular opinion. They might be high schoolers, college students in your general area. Reach out to them and see if they would like to team up. If so, set them up with a couple t-shirts in exchange for wearing them x amount of posts per week. Give them a promo code they can share on their posts so you can track their referrals that purchase and allow them to make a percentage off their sales. I visited your site and I truly love what you are doing with your positive messaging. Wishing you the best on your new endeavor.
