In our experience, #'s 1 + 3 are valuable - as it gives the client the feeling that there is someone who genuinely wants them to succeed (#1) and also helps them feel as though there is a path out of whatever difficulties they are facing (#3). The remaining items however would do a disservice to our client. They look to us to be experts in our field and not simply be there to comfort them and tell them they are doing a great job. Leadership is not telling someone what they want to hear, but what they need to hear.
