Create a WordPress Blog, not a WordPress website if you don't feel the investment is justified.  You can easily manage it yourself and customize it to match your brand.  Wix and other template services are cookie cutter sites and charge you, but offer little support.  Not knowing your niche market, certain social media channels may be good additions to go with a WP Blog.  Google crawls WP Blogs as well.  Good Luck.
