About Us
Worship is the heart of our life together. It is reverent and rooted in tradition, yet with relevant sermons that connect with everyday life. We also embrace the contemporary style of worship with our Joyful Spirit Praise Band. Our gatherings send us forth to live as God’s people in the world.
At St. Timothy Lutheran Church you will find a spiritual home where all are welcome, where we treasure the diversity of the whole human family, and grow into a more authentic, real community.
As a rural congregation in a tourist area we have a welcoming heart, a passion for justice, an openness to questioning, and a deep reverence for the earth, the wonder of life, and the presence of God in both suffering and joy.

My church, St. Timothy Lutheran Church, has three different kinds of services: traditional (with organ), contemporary (with a praise band) and blended (a bit of both). The worship is joyful and upbeat.

As a pastor of (at the time) two churches, my situation is slightly different. In 2017 I had to take an 8 month medical leave following back surgery complicated by an ecoli infection that nearly killed me. I was fortunate to have ecumenical partners that are United Methodist, who were able to step in during that time. The husband spent Sundays preaching and the wife, who had her own churches, took care of visitation and being at church council meetings. My churches loved them, but were still glad to have me back.
One Sunday morning a man said, "I don't want to go to church." His wife replied, "You have to go to church." "I don't want to go to church." "You have to go to church," said the wife. The husband replied, "Why?" The wife answered, "Because you're the pastor."

This really isn't applicable to us at this time. We're in the process of working on our budget and actually looking for ways to spend less.

No, we do not. We're not really in an area for that, such as the village.

A church has to look at this questions from a different perspective, since we don't have deals and clients in the same way a business does. For us, it's a matter of discerning the context in which we find ourselves. One time, to reach out to an infrequent worshipper, I called and then arrived at her house. It was smelly and dirty. Cats had had accidents in the house. There was a dirty diaper on the coffee table etc. Other times it was a matter of spending time in the emergency room with a member at odd hours--just the normal things a pastor does.
Word of mouth works best for us. As I've visited with worshippers, most of whom did not grow up in this church, I would say that 9 out of 10 came because someone they knew invited them. When things got tough, they stayed because of the relationships that had been formed.

In our area, the county sheriff had organized a one day seminar, including people that had worked for the FBI and others in the field. We had already implemented some of their suggestions: cameras at entrances and more lighting in parking lots, for example. They had also recommended cameras for...

In our area, the county sheriff had organized a one day seminar, including people that had worked for the FBI and others in the field. We had already implemented some of their suggestions: cameras at entrances and more lighting in parking lots, for example. They had also recommended cameras for the parking lots as well, which we will be installing in the future.
One thing that was not recommended, was for people to start bringing guns to church, which we wholeheartedly agree with.
Great question, but not really applicable to the work of a church.
