Our grandfather on my (Jan and Jill) mother's side has an extermination business that started in Somerset, KY. Our parents, Ralph and Tina, started Imel Pest Control, Inc. in 1967 out of a small house in Bethalto, IL. Ralph started this second job with nothing more than a sprayer and a truck. Tina was a housewife who kept the office and house in order. My sister, Jill, began spraying when she was 20 years old, and is still a technician to this day. I, Jan, started helping my mom by answering the office phones and assisting with various tasks around the office. Our dad told us, "Nothing is better than a handshake and positive word-of-mouth for advertising." Both of our parents believed that customers should be treated the same way you'd like to be treated.
