Coronavirus Insights Poll: Week 9
Posted by:
I just want to say that I do appreciate Alignable's efforts in grabbing a polling eyes view of what's going on for small businesses impacted by COVID. As the country moves towards relaxing the shelter in place orders, I just want to see if we are doing it right as a country. The US didn't start off right in it's handling of this virus that we knew was inbound, so with that said I am not confident that our efforts to push the economy back to it's feet is going to be very smooth. For this reason, I have personally chosen to not open my business back up until early June. I feel this will give things proper time to see if lifting the restrictions will be a good thing, or if it will cause a rebound in positive cases or a secondary spread. If I see case numbers continue to decline as testing numbers increase, that will tell me we are all (people doing what they are supposed to be doing in wearing masks in public places and being mindful of social distancing) doing what we need to in order to snuff out this virus. If I see cases start to increase again, especially in a erratic way, then that tells me we aren't ready to open back up. Being mindful of re-opening is important for most small businesses, especially ones that are newer and still have high overhead. It would be a disaster to use the Stimulus money on marketing right now, especially if we have a rebound of cases happen and that money gets wasted. I want to play this smart, I need the money, don't get me wrong, but we are all living on a slippery slope right now, so being careful isn't a bad thing. Again, thank you for your data collecting on this as it has been very helpful. Also, good luck to each and everyone of the small businesses impacted by COVID, we all need to stay strong and work together on this. Stay safe and be well.
