How We Got Started

After watching the collapse of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), I decided that there were too many good businesses in our region that needed help. I had pondered the idea of going out on my own but that closing was the push I needed. Still serving the business community by helping them grow everyday and I'm loving every minute of it!

Always - always thank them for being a customer. Within our company, this includes sending out thank you cards or e-mails when a new client joins us. At the end of each year, all clients that worked with us will receive a box of sweets to recognize their dedication and trust with our services. When we serve insurance clients, we make sure the marketing program is a continuous reminder of: (1) why insurance is needed; and (2) why your office and its customer service abilities will solve their insurance issues. Remember, it's not about just landing new clients, a good marketing program allows you to revisit existing clients and share with them the stories of how you've reduced burden, protected others long term, and demonstrated that their payments go beyond filling salaries.

When someone approaches me for services, I do two things: (1) Have an honest, confidential conversation on their knowledge of social media.  We talk about how often they use it personally and what they like or dislike.  Then I try to apply their experience to what we do for the business side of social management; and (2) Talk about the realistic goals - including costs because a good social media plan is not "free" - and the type of results they might be seeking. It comes down being sure the client understands the potential and limitations of any online marketing (including website design) combined with what they expect from the monies they put into the projects. I tend to agree with others. I use more of the Microsoft Office platform. Love Google Apps, but only when I'm driving a client to using them as a social media outlet.
