I do pretty much what Deanna does. It's a lot easier to get business from people you know than from cold leads and it's free. I sent a small thank you gift for the referral, whether the referred person does business with me or not. The gift is for thinking enough of me to refer me. About 90% of my business comes from my sphere and those who refer me to their friends, etc. I also offer to make a donation from my commission to one of two different non-profit organizations that I support for leads I get from anyone connected with those organizations. When I first got in the business I spent a lot of money buying leads and I found that in the time it took to reach the lead and convert them I could do more business, and higher level business, keeping in touch with my sphere and creating my own leads by networking in my community and neighborhood.
