Without that you will think you've never done enough, which is a low-grade anxiety. Anxiety is not a consultant's friend. Hunger is, not anxiety. Work backwards from the number of clients you want to work with in a given month. -How many contracts need to be in consideration to produce one that is signed? -How many proposals need to be generated in order to be invited to provide a contract? -How many networking conversations, coffees, appointment, RFPs, etc., need to be in front of you in order to have opportunity to provide proposals or statements of work? -What is a minimum number of marketing touches that are needed to get to those networking conversations? All questions, answered in a monthly metric, begin to help you divide your time, measure your activities, consistently drill down to what you need to do next, and then to close your computer, turn off the lights and go do something that rests your mind, builds your stamina, brings you joy, and express love.

We have learned to make decent use of the idea that generosity sets the stage far better than trying to get something.
