About Us
Locally owned and operated for over 20 years, (we're not going anywhere!), experienced master electrician Roy Forsgren and his team of electricians service a lot of Colorado, specifically northern Colorado, Boulder County, North Denver, Longmont, Loveland, Berthoud, Lyons, Allens Park, Campion, Estes Park, Erie, Frederick, Dacona, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior (yes, a lot of Colorado!).
Working with electricity is best kept to the professionals. Your safety and peace of mind are found in the professional services of Roy's Electric. We deliver a wide range of electrical services, professionally and timely. We employ licensed electricians and carry insurance.
Generator installation and repair is one of our specialties. Securing your electrical source during a severe storm, or natural disaster (Colorado storms keep us hopping), tapping in to an emergency back up generator will help you sleep better at night knowing your family, your food and your home's security is intact.
If your electrical project demands new wiring or the repair or upgrade of existing wiring - like electrical panels, hot tub install, fans, exterior landscape lighting and accent lighting - Roy's Electric is eager to help you with residential electrical service or commercial electrical service, and eager to be your home or business's 'go to' electrician.
How We Got Started
Roy started his electrical journey in the coal mines of Carbon County, Utah getting licensed and being a foreman in the local coal mines. He moved to Colorado in 1994 to marry Kimberly. He started his own business in 1996. He enjoys the challenge of new build custom jobs and remodeling all sized projects. He has trained many young electricians including Kimberly

Because we are considered 'Essential' and there are so many folks working from home we do respond to calls. Typically when I know the work will be inside the building I make sure the customer knows we need to WASH OUR HANDS on entrance before work and on leaving...I ask the customer to provide a sink, soap, water and paper towels for each event!! If they hesitate to say of course, I will not allow my employees to go there. We do use sanitizer on hands but too much is not killing germs, just becoming sticky for germs to get on, and I explain that with each call. We do not wear gloves as a safety protocol. My employees wear quality masks and maintain 'social distancing'. The customers seem to like my cautious attitude as I am a nurse/electrician and am blunt about the safety of my employees and the customers.

Our business specializes in Standby generators and now the folks who are working from home are feeling insecure about not having power to do their jobs at home. We are getting at least 8 calls a day from folks needing information and wanting pricing. Problem is EVERY situation is different. The correct placement of the generator is crucial, the electrical panel on the home may not be one that can accept an Automatic Transfer Switch so it is essential to have a knowledgeable person do the evaluation rather than trust a UTube video for installation of just any unit. Folks spend lots of money buying a machine that will not suit their power needs and the machine is not always returnable...When you talk with Roy you are talking to an expert and our consultation is complimentary ! It is an expensive decision so making the correct decision is crucial!

I did not start my business but rather joined my husband in his. He is a Master Electrician who whined for years about not being able to find decent help on jobs he was doing. I became the decent help on my days off from being a full time RN doing Critical Care at a local hospital. Working with him, learning from him and ultimately taking over the office from him and running out to do service calls and assisting customers became a full time job and now I am a nurse part time and electrician full time. My biggest obstacle is WOMEN who will not listen to me because their husband has all the brains and can fix the outlets without power or they want a man to come to fix the outlet! The electrical panel has no clue what sex is touching it but convincing a lady I have enough knowledge to talk them through a problem without them getting hurt is a challenge!! I give much work away for free helping humans learn Basic Residential electrical reset options. Men tend to listen and want to try to do it with me talking them through the issue. Women just want someone to do it for them and will bitch about the cost. In my humble opinion; Taking Shop Courses out of High School has hurt our society and turned folks into brainless homeowners getting hit in the wallet for skills their folks should have trained them in!!

As an electrician, I know too well the frustration of not being able to hire up youngsters to train. I walked away from my position as a Critical Care RN to assist my husband with his electrical business because we could not find help. I helped on my days off and weekends, and was registered as an apprentice, and the rest is history. I am constantly approaching high school youth trying to get summer help, and offering to introduce them to the trades. We have trained up 6 apprentices in the recent past and we have gone so far as to buy tools for them so they don't have the excuse of "its too much money to invest in tools I won't use when I am in college." College is great but it is not for everyone. I market the trades everywhere I go...The grocery store to the guy stacking produce, the bowling alley to the folks sitting around in their groups bowling, church, the golf course, I even give my business card to those begging on street corners offering a path to a future!! How many professions let folks learn by working on the job, get paid to learn and turn that learning into a life altering profession?? I do talk to school counselors and many are starting to see the lite, so to speak. I am always a presence in Job Fairs locally as well!!
Get into a networking group that meets weekly!! BNI has groups all over and many areas offer other networking groups, just ask at the Chamber of Commerce where you are located. When you develop real relationships with other humans, in person, they will refer you. I would never refer a company...

When you develop real relationships with other humans, in person, they will refer you. I would never refer a company based on looking at a website. Just saying...that is how I promoted my company and still get out in the world with my logo and being present at events. Maybe join Habitat for Humanity and connect with other contractors there! Good luck, be human and don't depend on the internet to make those critical connections!

I honestly don’t have rivals in the electrical business. Every home and business has electricity and there is enough work for all of us to stay busy. I refer particular jobs to other businesses that’specialize’ in the area needed if I can’t help. Rarely do I get a call where that I don’t refer...

I will not refer a rude customer to another business as I would not wish that on ours.
Mark, great question but the answer is not an easy one. WHO are your customers, or who are your targets to market to? I have a terrific SEO guy whose brother is an electrician in a different specialty than ours. We do primarily residential and standby generators, he does industrial constuction....

My SEO guy will run ideas past his brother and get his feedback as a consumer, which helps me! What I pay my SEO has been returned to me month by month with the keywords being responded to by my customers. Get a good SEO person who you can communicate with frequently and develop a relationship with. Many Big SEO companies have folks working for them that don't know the basics of your business and you are paying for a template from them with no responses from the population. I know because I tried a company out of state that promised me the world but I never got calls. I had a difficult time reaching the same salesperson any time I called. Finally I went local and the phone rings everyday!!
Referrals are the highest form of complimentary marketing a company can get. I treat all my customers who refer me to a savings on their next invoice, either free or discounted rate with the written statement, "Thank you for the referral to ............."

Our standby generator customers who refer us to a friend who purchases a machine from us gets a free annual maintenance which can be up to $500 in value!! One great cheerleader customer has had 5 years of free maintenance's!! We send her flowers on her birthday too!!!!!

My best advice to you as a small business owner, get a good SEO guy/gal and get your name on the Web!! Get the KEY words to identify your business quickly. People always call us to do commercial work because they 'saw our name online', Google, Yelp, Bing etc. If you want to do commercial work be ready with tools that are appropriate and have a dependable supplier that can get you what you need quickly at a good price. Make your presence known by wearing your logo on ALL your shirts and look the part of a professional when you show up. Don't take shortcuts and do good work, it will pay off. Other electricians out there are not the enemy, never bad mouth another business to make yours look good. As you know, electricity is basic and an art but not all do it exactly alike. Good Luck!
