How We Got Started

Hello, my name is Ms. Donna L. Quesinberry, and I reside in the Washington DC metropolitan area originally. The onset of DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. began when I was a young girl who grew to love writing after giving the Easter Bunny notes as a small child and receiving his loving answers with paw prints that showed by them. I learned early in life whether you are penning literary fiction or nonfiction - it has a lasting effect.

DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. became a technical reality with the advent of the movement to an Indie market - it seemed an appropriate time to open the doors and support writers. Previous to doing so, I had ghostwritten a number of books, provided a role as a syndicated columnist, developed over 10K publications, and received literally hundreds of requests from authors to help to publish their books - then determined to move past saying "no" to saying "yes" to select authors and new ones as we move into the future.

(more) Don't know if I'd use the terminology "throw in the towel," rather - "adjust or trim the sails" and use the past performance for lessons-learned (L2). Personally, I made the mistake of taking a home business to a suite and then a shop, based on the suggestions of "other" well-intended people. I realized my own judgement of being home-based was wisest where brick and mortar is no longer essential. In trusting people I believed were good people with good intentions having come from a bigger city to a small town enclave, I was cheated out of revenue while my supposed good intended contemporaries in a small community lied to my face with a smile on theirs - so I had multiple L2 in a short time frame in the manner of significant financial losses. Result? My original ideas were spot on and to me this was the best takeaway. Now, with COVID-19, the reality of an online, home-based and mobile business model, is underscored as more fiscally responsible because I can drive savings to my customers due to "not having" a brick and mortar existence with wolves at the doors and windows is just a better life. Lesson: follow your instincts and adjust or trim the sails. Embrace these changes for a better horizon - no matter how painful it is - it is improvement . . . don't they say for every great business they often had four or five restarts? Just chalk it up to - what happens in moving the business model forward. Q.

Keeping things fresh through display rotations and interesting capture administration helps. Also, attending local events and talking naturally about your business and how you might aid others when they visit. Volunteering too helps. Positive vibes and meditation help as well I do believe. (more) My business is DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. I am a small traditional publisher - an Indie Publisher. The question I poised to learn what folks are doing to move from wanting to write a book to doing so. The mission statement is always a good idea. Authors often have no idea what is next and what they intend post the idea of writing and/or doing so. These responses are very facilitative to learning more about authors' feelings and thought processes. As far as author beware . . . the former Predator and Editor creator Ann Crispin, formerly Ann Tickell, was a friend of mine growing up - we rode horses together and boarded them in the same small stable. While I appreciate not being taken for granted - I also feel the predator suggestions have added a layer of segregation to impending publishers who become thwarted from their sometimes thuggish demeanor. So it goes both ways in my estimation. Also, it appears to me, authors sometimes do not read their title representation agreements and that is something that they really need to do. So much is resolved by reading an agreement prior to signing.
