subcontracting is great for a lot of businesses. However, my reputation has been built on the promise of not doing that because most of my clients have come from writers who did contract out and it ended up poorly.
Although, I have been able to dissect and hire other freelancers for things such as proofreading, cover and interior design, transcription, etc. so it has been helpful in that regard

I agree that subcontracting help is good, that way you get help only when you need it and at the same time you are helping someone else.
