About Us
Joanna's Digital Images is a portrait and event photography business in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, USA. I specialize in photographing families, children and special events. Let me take the pictures at your next event so YOU can be in them!
How We Got Started
I began by selling gift items based on my digital photography. In 2005, I photographed my first wedding and began moving towards portrait photography, which is now my main focus. I also perform digital restoration on old photographs.

As a portrait and event photographer, I have put my business and marketing on hold for a while. I am using the opportunity to plan for future marketing and projects. I am lucky to be a sole proprietor working from home, so I have relatively modest business overhead.

Referrals go both ways! Only refer friends to businesses you have personally been happy with and don't refer businesses to friends who will not value them. I am a photographer and not everyone values my services-some are just looking for cheap.

I agree with Matthew McKee that you may be looking for trouble using a picture without permission; copyright belongs to the photographer for their lifetime plus 70 years under current copyright law. However, what are you using it for? If it is in something temporary, and you state that it is not your photo, you may be okay. If the photographer should see it and ask you to take it down, you should comply at once. I would not use it for any kind of publication without permission. Most digital photos have copyright in the metadata of the file, so, if you have the actual file, you may be able to find out who took it. Don't even think of using it in a marketing setting!
I am a member on Sue Bryce Education, which is an awesome on-line community. I will also be attending the Portrait Masters Conference in Arizona this year.

Personal recommendation is the best lead. Craig's list is probably the worst. You get what you pay for.

It depends what business you are in and how much you want to spend. As a photographer, photo ornaments with the client's pictures make a great small gift.
