About Us

I have been writing poems for a long time now and have been encouraged to publish them several times over the years. This year was the year, it is finally out will be INSPIRATIONAL STRUGGLES. This book contains several poems on the struggles I have had including one about my sister that passed away, and one that was written after I survived the 2011 tornado that destroyed the Lowe's Home Improvement store, in Sanford, NC. Still others are just a personal insight into my thoughts.

I have been able to stay working during this whole thing and so have not been working on my next book, but have been writing some poems during this time. I say writing them but really just writing down what God gives me. Since I am currently writing poems and not working on other projects, I just get an inspiration from time to time and go with it. One such moment was when talking with a co-worker about her husband. He had been paralyzed at one point but is now learning how to walk again. She said she had told him to "slow down before he fell" and out of that came a poem "Slow Down Before You Fall".

My faith has kept me sane this far during this time. I also like reading Christian books by various authors. The main reason I am going back to the Scriptures is to do some research for  a new book. Not that I am a Theologian but so that I may learn how to better myself and my parenting. The book will be a look as to how I see God "parented" as a father. There is enough negativity going on around me, so I search the Scriptures for some Good News for a change.

There are a lot of good ideas already stated in these answers. The one thing I would add is be honest at whatever you do. If you are not comfortable doing something, then it will show. But on the other hand if there is a youth event in the area, part of my calling is helping with youth. I would be comfortable doing that. If art is not your gift, then sidewalk chalk signs may not be right for you, if it is then go for it. Find something that works for you, then you can take full advantage of those. I am not saying don't try new things but start with what you know and venture out as you learn more.

Sometimes we can get off track and will need a visual reminder. Although, I have not written mine down yet, I desire to encourage as many people as possible, which is why I have finally published my book (as a first step). But how we accomplish our mission is our vision. The road (so to speak) of how to get were we want to be. Our values are the maps that keep us on the right road. Occasionally, we need to take a look at the road (visions) and see if are going in the wrong direction or not. If we think we are lost, then we check the map and get back on the right road. Thanks for the question, and now to sit down and follow my own advice.

We all want to win, but to be on a winning team that is "egotistical" about it can be just as detrimental to the game. The old cliche is "is not rather you win or lose, but how you play the game." I would rather play the "game" knowing I gave my best and lose, than to "do what it takes" and lose. In business, (and life for that matter) my name is on the line. Personally, I take that seriously and will lose a sale over having someone thinking I am a cheat or pushover. I will play the game fair and honest, then let others decide if I am a "winner or loser", but rest easy at night knowing I gave it my all. In the end, one might complain, but a thousand will say I was fair. Hang tough, play to have fun, not to win or lose.

I by no means have experience in travel agency (although I have traveled extensively in the past, both domestic and overseas). I do not have a lot of photos of all my travels either, and my past has been rocky also. Please allow me to encourage you, the one thing I have found is that I have to look at it and decide do I stay in the past or move on. I can not change what has happened, but I can change my future. Learn from the past and use it to stand on the future. Somewhere out the is someone that looking to go where you have been. Help those. Don't focus on where you have not been but rather on how to get where you   want to go. (Both with you business and your travels.) As you focus on where you have been, you can earn enough to go where you have not.

Regardless of your views, take a look at those that are coming over illegally. Yes, some are coming to better their way of life. But there is a legal way to do that and they do not need to break our laws to come here. The problem is with the millions of drugs that come in across open borders. Also those that do not care about laws (either ours or their local). Not to mention terrorists that just simply walk across. And just so you know, yes I have lived (and served) for 3 years at the border. Yes, our system needs to be improved, but even with improvements to our laws, without a physical security, these people would still take advantage of an open border. Stop to think, how many of the law makers were in favor of a secure border just a few years ago. Should this change just because of who is in the White House? No. Don't just take the news' view (or mine), do the research and find out for yourselves. Check the views of all Senators and Representatives from the past, and then ask what has changed. Or better yet, find an organization that is willing to go to their country and help them there. Then support it. Most of them do not want to leave but just want a better life.

With the help of a friend, Robin Owens, that has written several childrens books and has started the Dabby Project to help military children and family, I started thinking why write poems if you are not going to share them. With Robin's help and Boch Publishing LLC, my first book Inspirational Struggles has been published. I am about 14 poems into my next collection and have at least 3 other projects in the thought process. If these can encourage or help one person, then all the scary thoughts of failure will be worth it.
