My large ticket items are printing jobs. I (gently) remind them that I'm a small operation and that I have to pay for the printing up front and I need to be paid so I can stay afloat. I guess it depends on how pitiful and small you want to appear. LOL.

A good logo and/or catch phrase is always helpful in getting your business noticed. The best form of advertising is word of mouth though.
