About Us

Reach for distant shores... Mariner Media is an integrated publishing and marketing firm that provides creative, research and publishing services. Our client base is national. Our service is prompt and professional. Our imprints include Mariner Publishing, Harbour Books and Whaler Books.

We produce Websites, Books, Magazines, Video, Brand Development, Annual Reports and TV Commercials.

How We Got Started

Initially we were strictly providing publishing services for universities and institutions, then we were approached to assist with the branding and marketing of The Ponds, a new housing development in Lexington, Virginia. On opening day, they sold $3 million worth of building lots. News of the success brought several new "marketing" clients to the firm and the rest is history. Today over half of our business is related to brand development for our national client base.

Woodson Sadler, Jr. was commissioned and retired in the same room at the Virginia Military Institute, just decades apart. His Marine Corps career took him all over the world. 15 years ago, we came together on fund raising and Public Relations campaign for Virginia's 400 Wagon Train. Woody became a Certified Professional Fund Raiser and has help countless non-profits become sustainable. Aside from the business, Woody still teaches engineering at VMI, part time, and served as the District Governor for Rotary. We are all very proud of Woody for his service to our Country and his commitment to serving our neighbors.

Get Found — Fast,  because that's what your client wants. Remember, we are in the business of delivering results. In your first layer of content talk about building solid organic on-site SEO. Tell them that is where you start. That's how you get to first page (behind the paid placements) Tell them that it isn't easy — There are more web-pages than people on earth. Don't talk about money... a pizza restaurant has a higher need for strong local SEO than a manufacturing company. Invest in a copy writer. Fix it up and good luck...  Andy

We advise our clients to maintain their marketing presence, even though business is crawling... because when it opens up, they will be at the head of the pack.   We follow our own advice.  (more) We advise our clients to maintain their marketing presence, even though business is crawling... because when it opens up, they will be at the head of the pack.   We follow our own advice.

Our clients come from two channels: Networking and Referrals. Most lasting clients are the result of a referral. It's also OK to ask an existing client for referrals... if they are happy, the will gladly refer you to a friend. A good deal of our client base is regional or national, and we don't... It's also OK to ask an existing client for referrals... if they are happy, the will gladly refer you to a friend. A good deal of our client base is regional or national, and we don't handle competitive clients, so the referral usually broadens the verticals of our business.
